Items to Bring Reason
Smartphone Used for reservation confirmation, taking photos, and checking maps
Valuables Wallet, credit cards, passport (for international visitors), etc.
Seasonal Underwear Clothing for hot and cold weather (lightweight HeatTech garments, etc., in winter)
Portable charger For those who frequently use camera apps and map apps
What to Wear on the Day

We recommend wearing clothes that are easy to put on and take off. We suggest choosing items with a low neckline or simple designs that don't reveal your undergarments around the neck or cuffs.

About Large Luggage

We can store any luggage you don't need while sightseeing (including suitcases) at our store. This way, you can explore Kyoto with just the essentials.

Tips for Walking in a Kimono

Basic Walking Technique

The trick is to take slightly smaller steps than usual and walk slowly.
Walking with your feet turned slightly inward will help keep your outfit from getting rumpled.

Slopes and Stairs

Areas like Ninenzaka have a lot of stairs. To avoid tripping on the hem,
lifting it up slightly will make it easier to walk.

Precautions on Rainy Days

The cobblestones can get slippery. Watch your step,
and hold your umbrella wide to keep your sleeves from getting too wet.

Meals and Restroom

Can I eat here?

Yes, that's possible. For maximum comfort, hold your sleeves lightly and sit back slightly in your chair so they don't touch the sash.
Please be careful with dark-colored sauces and similar items.

What about the bathroom?

Of course, that's possible. Since it takes a little time, we recommend allowing plenty of time.
If you have any concerns, please consult our staff before you leave.

When Your Outfit Gets Messed Up

If you're concerned about your outfit losing its shape

If you have any concerns about your collar or obi, please consult a staff member before departure. While sightseeing, please do not try to adjust them yourself; if you have any concerns, please contact the store.

If you feel discomfort or have difficulty walking

Since kimonos are designed to fit more closely to the body than Western clothing, it may take some getting used to at first. If you feel uncomfortable or have trouble walking, please let a staff member know before you leave.

Seasonal Precautions

Spring and Fall
March-April October–November

This is the perfect season for a stroll, but it gets crowded. We recommend making a reservation early in the morning.

Summer July–August

It's essential to stay hydrated throughout the day. Make good use of shade and cafes, and enjoy sightseeing at a comfortable pace.

Winter December–February

Please wear a lightweight thermal layer. Since it gets chilly in the mornings and evenings, be sure to dress appropriately for your sightseeing schedule.
